I wanted to share with you these photos of “Vascular Vessels.” I know it sounds hokey, but each of my works feels like my baby, and when they are done, I take pictures of them like a proud mama. Thank you for indulging me!

Last weekend, I made a whirlwind trip to western Kansas to install “nAtuRal hisTory: the intersection of art and science” at the Sternberg Museum of Natural History in Hays, Kansas. My work is on display with Danielle L Robinson, whose vision of water and the sea is imaginative and inspiring. We spent several years together in a cramped studio space in Graduate School, and I like to think that the similarities in our work reflect that! The exhibit runs from Sept 24 – Feb 24. Here are a few pictures from the installation… See more “nAtuRal hisTory” on display at Sternberg Museum »

I’m delighted to report that I’ve been working in the studio this summer after a busy, chaotic first year of teaching! In September, I’ll be installing much of my work for a 2 person show (with my former studio mate, Danielle Robinson) at the Sternberg Museum of Natural History in Hays, Kansas. It does make sense! Our art is inspired by nature and the science behind it, and we’re excited to show that connection in a natural history museum.
So… here’s what I’ve been up to in the studio so far. To see the finished works… make plans to come to the Sternberg Museum (Sept 24-Feb 24)! See more Summer in the Studio »

My dear friend, Ricky, recently asked for individual “portraits” from my Settling series. These ceramic pieces are slipcast, then stained with different combinations of teas and coffee and other such things. They remind me of a variety of things: seeds, shells, those mineral pools at Yellowstone, tree rings, etc., etc. Please, do write me a note and tell me what they mean to you.
See more for Ricky, #3… »
